Dinner! Rick made a fantastic sweet & sour chicken (poured over rice) dinner cooked in a Dutch Oven.
This bear walked right out in front of me as I was driving towards Valley View. I told Rick to grab the camera, he did as soon as he could. He got a few photos of it, so here is one for now.

The video camera is a cheap one, so the color and quality isn't so great, but at least you get to see how it is up there this time of year.. NOW is the time to go! (just not next weekend when it's Memorial Day!!!).
Here is the entrance driving into the valley where Hwy 120 & 140 meet.
I went camping outside of the park because all the surrounding campgrounds were full!! One mile before you get to the 120 entrance, there is a street on the left called "Evergreen". This will take you to Hetch Hetchy etc... but about 6 miles down the road, there is a campground called Diamond O (not part of Yosemite Park).... a very very nice cozy place. A buddy of mine and I stayed there by ourselves the first night, and then had a group of Boy Scouts come up the following night (I highly recommend the place!) Very well taken care of (better then Yosemite Park takes care of things).
We hiked to Nevada Falls Saturday morning (May 16, 2009). Instead of going up the Vernal trail, we decided to take the John Muir trail instead so we wouldn't hit the Mist Trail early in the morning and freeze to death. lol It was a good decision as it was in the afternoon when we came back down the Mist trail side. It was sooooo refreshing getting wet when we were sooo hot! It was a welcome relief.

Evergreen Lodge (along Hwy 120)
I've never been here, but a number of people tell me their experiences there were very good. Groveland is about 1 hr before Yosemite "valley" (not the entrance) on hwy 120.
Groveland is a VERY cute old town, especially at night. It's fun to walk along the downtown area.
Or, you can always spend close to $500.00 a night at the Ahwahnee Hotel. YEOW!
